Hey Bladers,

I just launched a categorized archive collecting some of the best material featured in "The Summer Of Free" from years past. I'll keep adding to it every summer and it will stay up year round for your free geeking pleasure!

I was curious if you took advantage of the suggestions I gave you last summer (movie theater reward cards) and if so how have they been working for you?

I'm struggling to remember the details but I remember looking into it, although it must have not worked out for some reason. Can you refresh me on the details?

I was checking out your free stuff archive and noticed a couple things....

1) can you specify whether the video games are mac or pc or linux compatible?
2) also can you give a link to the website were you found them instead of a direct download?

Just a couple thoughts

Also you might want to add all the free movies that are on youtube now to yer list

Movie theaters like AMC and Regal have reward cards where each time you go to their theater you show them your card and you get points and after you get so many points you get free popcorn drinks and movie tickets

Oh yeah, that's right! I didn't go before because AMC was much more expensive than Harkins (which didin't have that kind of program at the time). But my AMC just dropped their morning show prices dramatically about 6 months ago, so I should totally go sign up! Thanks for the reminder!

I'll try to make a note that games should be assumed PC unless marked otherwise.

I figured folks would rather get straight to the recommended game rather than sift through the site to find it. Any reason you prefer the site link instead of a direct download?

As for listing "all free movies" on Youtube, is there a link to a youtube movie directory? I'd rather take the searching element out of the equation as much as possible. The idea is that the archive will be a time saver and that most items won't involve a ton of sifting and searching through materials but can be enjoyed immediately based on a direct recommendation from myself or someone in this community.

Just a quick update:

I included a note that downloaded games in the archive are for PCs running windows (didn't specify version) unless otherwise indicated. I also included links in the descriptions to the original pages of the first three games listed in addition to keeping the direct download, so readers can have their choice between direct download OR going to the site instead of just one or the other.

For one I'd like to see where the game comes from in the first place... saying that you're not responsible for viruses and then just giving me a direct download link makes me feel uneasy... I'd much rather download it from the source site... I would assume they have more of a description there also, plus it's good for reference.

Yeah, you can usually get more info on the site. But either way you're still downloading from the exact same place, since I'm just reproducing the same download link on the archive. I'm not hosting any of the files.

Right so I have nothing to go by but your word... Include both the original site and the download link. It's good etiquette to include the original site.
