Wow. Have you guys heard of the Google Stadia? This looks like a massive game changer.
I don't even pay attention to gaming news anymore, because my console is a generaion behind - almost two generations behind. But with something like this, hardware becomes irrelevant. You just subscribe to a service like Netflix. You can even use it with your existing hardware.

This is some seriously creative innovation.

This has been on my radar for awhile, but I don't know it's worth getting excited about...yet.

It will all hang on the quality of internet service each user has, both what speed they are willing to pay for and the reliability and service of their Internet Service Provider.

We normally have great internet. Not the most blazingly fast you can buy, but good enough for streaming... when it works. As you guys have seen, sometimes streaming doesn't work out for me. And that burden is on our ISP, which is already the best choice in our local market.

What will REALLY potentially change things is when wireless, unlimited data plans for cell phones allow people to bypass wired internet and just create local hotspots to run their home internet from. When that becomes real and affordable for the average consumer, I think THAT is when these streaming options become real revolutions. For now, like so much tech stuff, I think it will largely appeal to early adopters willing to pay more money and deal with more problems.

That was a good analysis, John.
