Hi Brandon - I've got my audio recorded, and I'll be editing soon. Wanted to get it done ahead of time in case you had any feedback / change of direction you were looking for. (about to travel for work, so time is tight for getting in front of a microphone)

What format would you like for files, and how should we get them to you?

I've been using <CharacterName>_Page<no>Line<no> so far - does that work OK for you?

Typically I make audio available as a ZIP download off my website, but I can use DropBox if that's preferred.

Also, I'm assuming 44KHz sampling rate, 24bit PCM mono audio is your preferred choice for rendering?

Put it on your site as a zip, and email me the link. Wav or aiff works if you have enough space to host it. Otherwise mp3.
I can download it tomorrow.

Got most of the Lines from Kevin Powe. I was going to record Gabriel Newhall but I can't seem to find my usb soundcard now... Maybe I'll just have to record directly to CD...

We need to be consistent.

I'd go with the dictionary when in doubt about real words and with Charles when they are made up.

I decided to finally try out the Levelator

I had to convert it to an uncompressed format and then drag it onto the levelator to let it do it's work


Once it was done this is what I got...


Nice even volume on all the lines.

I have no idea what any of that means...But, it looks very impressive.

Basically you're looking at a waveform (a graphical representation of a sound wave) The stuff that's skinnny in the middle is quieter, whereas the stuff that gets taller on the top and the bottom is louder. (the mid is quiet, the top and bottom is loud)

So you can clearly see what the levelator did. It made the volume even all the way across.

In any case I now have the lines ready + leveled for

I'm going to record Gabriel (and maybe Robert) today before church starts...

So I was messing around with the voice file for the charecter Alpha...

I first passed the voice through a filter that would lower the quality... Basically I could make it sound like it was coming out of a 8 bit Nintendo if I wanted to (you know how voices didn't quite sound right back then?)

So I lowered the quality just a bit...

Then I ran a filter called Detune (basically I think it plays the same track over it's self in a slightly out of tune way)

Then I ran through and deleted all the "breaths" the actress would make (computers don't breathe right?)
