Steam summer sale Empty Steam summer sale

    Post  mikel.withers July 1st 2016, 10:29 am

Mayhaps not in line with our summer of free, but...not too far off.
I picked up Railroad Tycoon II +III and Sid Meier's Railroads! for less than $4.
I'm not a railroad buff, but I do like games of expansion and growth.
I played II several hours yesterday, and really enjoyed the depth that it has. (I played it years and years ago on the NES or SNES, iirc) At some point I'll have to figure the economy beyond "passengers and mail" out. Some of the more difficult scenarios will definitely require a bit of micro-managing.
ANyone else taking advantage of the sale to get something from their wishlist?

I tell myself now and then I'll go look, but I'm not a fan of "clients" for running games, and the steam client always wants to update and sometimes even prevents me from playing if I'm not connected. (Although I don't play PC often, so it's no shocker it's due for an update whenever I fire it up.) GOG is my go to, although the steam sale is great for the things GOG doesn't have.

I get emails telling me when something on my wishlist is on sale.
I download whatever game I want, stop all the game updates, then go offline until another game I want goes on sale. Sometimes I'll go online right before I go to bed so it can all update, then go back offline in the morning.
I suppose it is more trouble than I'd like, but not so much in the grand scheme of things.
