Blog Feed Working For Podcast? Empty Blog Feed Working For Podcast?

    Post  Paeter April 26th 2012, 12:55 pm

I've created a new feedburner feed that will allow people to subscribe to both the blog and podcast in a single feed. I've been inserting the podcast into the blog posts for a month or two now. But I'm new to the technology and so I'm not sure if it's been working. Can anyone tell me if their feed reader is able to get both the posts and the podcast okay using only this blog feed?

    Thanks!

It seems to be working fine. My news reader sends everything up the line just like it's supposed to. Your mp3 files are embedded in the XML feed correctly, and my iTunes only sees the podcast posts.

One formatting tip: Put the direct download link for your mp3 file at the bottom of your podcast posts so it doesn't show up in the excerpt. This will not affect the ability of people to download the podcast and it will bump your SEO for dedicated podcatchers like iTunes and Zune as the software parses the description instead of the file link. Many search engines are weighted to look only at the leading paragraph of a post unless specifically directed otherwise. If you lead with a link, and then use a paragraph break afterward, all the software sees is the link. This is not a good thing.

Mindspike... you rock in serious ways, sir. Thank you!!

The list of valuable things I don't know has been reduced by one!

(Of course, infinity minus 1 is still infinity so...crap.)
