James Spader as Ultron

James Spader has been cast as Ultron in the next Avengers movie Age of Ultron.
Do you think this was good casting? I don't know much about him so I don't have a opinion

I don't believe I've seen James Spader in anything before, so I can't really comment on him, but I wonder if Ultron it going to have a very robot-y voice (and therefore he won't sound much like James Spader anyway) or if he will sound human (and therefore sound exactly like James Spader) or some where in between.

Spader is awesome, he'll do fine... :-)

I agree. Spader can have an air of intimidation and menace, although it tends to be directed toward comedy lately. He could easily be great in the part.

Now the actor playing JARVIS is also going to be part of the cast, so having Spader as Ultron negates my original theory that JARVIS would become Ultron.

I've amended it to . . . Dummy is Ultron!!!

Think about it . . . Joss Whedon said about Ultron "he's got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain." Okay, so, Tony abused Dummy. Dummy had no way to express his feelings, with only a hand and no mouth, and yet there was some independent thought!

Dummy is Ultron!

I loved the original Stargate movie. Took awhile to get into the series. I tend to prefer Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson better, but Spader was good in the original role.

Don't know much about Ultron, so no real casting criticisms from me.

Yeah I can totally see Spader in anything odd or slightly inhuman with a robot/AI vibe to it. Awesome casting. We're in for a treat!
