    Blake's 7 Empty Blake's 7

    Post  UKSteve April 27th 2017, 9:47 am

I'm probably shouting into the void here, but has anyone seen Blake's 7?

It was a BBC sci-fi series written by Terry Nation (creator of the Daleks) that ran from 1978-81, and apart from an early 80s re-run has been largely overlooked since. Which is a shame, because I recently picked up a DVD box set and I'd either forgotten, or didn't appreciate at the time, how good it actually is. It's sort of like 1984 re-imagined as a space opera, or Firefly with Classic Who-style aesthetics.

Also, one of the episodes has Brian Blessed as the self-appointed 'one true God', which is kind of fun unless somebody points out that he's not God, he's just Grampy Rabbit on a power trip.

*sigh* we really need some more British geeks here to know what I'm blithering on about...

The name sounds familiar, but no haven't seen it.

Nice to know Terry Nation did other things. It's funny how somebody can become known for just one thing.
