Wonder Woman Costume Empty Wonder Woman Costume

    Post  Paeter May 29th 2014, 11:40 am

I thought we were supposed to be seeing an image of Gal Gadot in the Wonder Woman costume soon, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Maybe Zack Snyder realized Gadot isn't going to be bulky enough for the intended costume? Or maybe she will be, if the rumors of its design are true.

    http://comicbook.com/blog/2014/05/28/rumored-wonder-woman-costume-look-in-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice/

Something like this would allow them to cover her arms and legs, reducing the need for her to have bulging amazonian muscles. (Though not eliminating the need in my opinion.)

I'll say again that I think a great screen adaptation of the costume would be a Xena-like studded leather skirt dyed dark blue and a dark, blood-red leather tunic on top, in addition to the usual gold ornamentation and symbology. No strangely skimpy clothing (taken for granted in comics but doesn't translate well to film) but at the same time it doesn't lose the Amazonian vibe that vanishes when you put a black leather jacket and pants on her.

So what do YOU think the costume should look like?

And if you spot a reveal photo, please post it here!!

I think that look is pretty cool. It does look more "biker-ish" and less Amazonian with the leather jacket and all which would be a bit of a bummer, but I would be happy with that costume. It's better than her normal look modesty wise, so I'm all for that.

This is what I would like to see:

I don't know, Linda Carter filled out the costume quite well. I don't know any of the new actors, so I don't know if they would fill out the costume as well, but I liked the old one.

Dude, yes, DNArington! That design is VERY much in the spirit of what I'd like to see. What story/series is that image from??

I don't actually know. I saw it on the internet one day and saved it because I thought it was so cool!

First off, I don't understand how this is so difficult for DC to figure out. Her Costume, Her Story, All of it. They need to stop treating her as a superhero icon and start treating her like any other character. Look at The Hunger Games or a boat load of other movies with a female main character. If your wondering if you will only get a girl audience...no you wont.

Personally, I think pants in a costume could work if done right.

    Like this:

Also, a more traditional look could work, like this photomanip of Gal Gadot

Probably one of my favorite designs is this one by Kris Anka

Or it could be like this:

    Or This:

    Or This:

    Or This:

    Look for more here.

It's not as hard as DC seems to make it out to be. And all those look a heck of a lot more realistic than the last TV Show attempt.

Personally I don't mind a thin wonder woman. her strength is magically imbued not because of muscle. Just like I firmly believe Samson was a small guy. Why else would people be after the "SECRET" to his strength. If he looked like the Hulk, there's your secret, Sherlock.

I really like that costume as well! Personally I like the more armored versions of WW's costume and less superhero-y versions. She is a warrior and that should be exemplified through what she wears, which, in my mind, means having some form of protection covering her legs and chest, because if you are going to be in battle why leave anything vulnerable?

Yeah, I'm willing to let them convince me with a thin WW. But to my mind a warrior like her would be constantly training her body to its maximum, even if she has to benchpress train engines to do it. Either way, Snyder is the man. I'm willing to at least try and give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

You may have seen this already, but if not, here's the first image of Gal Gadot in the new Wonder Woman costume. Any thoughts?

Yeah, ever since I saw this on Day 3 of SDCC, I was so happy. I think they got it right. Or at least miles better than the failed tv show version. Why? #1, it looks like the comics brought to life without looking like spandex. #2, it has all the vital components; the bracelets, the tiara, the lasso, the chest insignia. #3, it looks like quasi-real armor similar to popular hoplite armor of the Greeks. It is certainly better than the Spartan armor in 300.

The only thing I outright don't like is the heals. I don't think it adds anything to combat or even stature. It's only there for ascetic purposes. Also, we could've used longer skirt flaps but at this point I'm just happy we got something more than the typical bikini bottoms.

I would like to see a couple of different versions of her armor used in either this movie or her (hopeful) stand-alone movie. I would also like to see a cape or a robe to signify her royalty in appropriate situations.

The best possible thing for my tastes is that this is the armor that is left after a battle. Some shoulder plates and maybe a helmet and some arm guards being damaged and discarded in battle.

Overall, this is better than I expected.

I think this is a solid look. Not exactly what I wanted, but I'm happy.

I like the costume although I still think she's too thin for the part.
And the heels are too high. Who can run and fight in heels?!

Anne Hathaway can. She did all of her own stunts in Get Smart wearing high heels, including full-speed running and stunt fighting. She talks about it in the dvd featurettes. Very impressive.
