We just had a bible study about how grace works and how some Christians use it as an excuse to do "whatever they want" because they're "saved by grace, and not by works lest you should boast"
I think the problem is people can take that scipture and make it an occasion for the flesh.
Now don't take me wrong, but me doing good works is NOT going to get me into heaven. It's just a natural extension of being a Christian.
The Bible says show me your faith without works and I'll show you mine by my works
