Rap music anyone? Empty Rap music anyone?

    Post  tmorrill February 12th 2012, 2:36 am

I realize that by and in large rap music isn't very popular with the more WASPish (poor choice of words, but I can't think of another one right now) Christians out there, but does anyone else listen to any Christian rap?

I recently got introduced to it by a few friends of mine here and I've gotta say I was blown away by the depth of some of it.

There's an example of it. Anyone else got any songs they wanna throw out?

    Yes! Absolutley.

"Grits" is awesome: Everything except their last two albums.
"Toby Mac" is cool: he's kind of pop-rap.
"John Reuben"is great: Jewish Christian rap Smile

I think its a great art form and I'm glad there are Christian artists using it.

Sorry, man...I guess I fit the WASP profile (except I'm Baptist so not technically Protestant). Never have gotten in to rap. It's about the only style of music I don't like. I don't like country either, really, but can listen to that for a little while.

But I'm glad you're enjoying it. Sounds like it's pretty good stuff lyrically.

. . . and thank you for posting this video. I'd never heard of Tripp Lee before, but this song is amazing! (It's getting a facebook post).

This song ministered to me this morning. Thank you.

I LOVE rap/hip-hop music, it is my favorite genre of music and one of my favorite rappers is Lyrycyst! His song are straightforward and he is not afraid to talk bluntly about hard topics.

    Here is his testimony:

and here is my favorite song by him: (it is definetly one of his softer songs, a lot of songs have some hard rock beats while he is rapping.)

I love his style of rap and his lyrics! cherry I would stick on a video of one of his harder songs but I don't want to post too many videos.

I really liked DC Talk and how they would throw in some rap once in a while... I guess that was Toby Mac's idea Wink

    Rap music anyone? Empty Kerux

    Post  dukeofbartonville February 14th 2012, 6:26 pm

My favorite Hip Hop artist is Kerux. (pronounced kay'-roox)
He has written some of the most theologically deep songs I have ever heard.
His name, Kerux, fits him well. It's a Greek word.
    Definition
a herald or messenger vested with public authority, who conveyed the official messages of kings, magistrates, princes, military commanders, or who gave a public summons or demand, and performed various other duties. In the NT God's ambassador, and the herald or proclaimer of the divine word.
Here is my favorite song of his:

There is some great Christian rap /hip hop out there. Some of the "small"guys do amazing work. Check out www.sphereofhiphop.com it's a great Christian site. Also they have a ton of free tracks you can download. I'm digging Heath McNease right now, some cool retro Nintendo stuff he is doing. His Tanoki song is quite humorus!
