Well, I've completely taken the plunge. For Valentine's Day the Princess Bride gave me a homemade gift certificate for a video game of my choosing not to exceed $30.00 (+/-) for the Wii system I got for Christmas.

So on Presidents' Day, we took the trip to GameStop to see what my gift actually looked like. I was able to pick up Wii Sports (a personal favorite for the both of us), as well as LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures.

The salesman also convinced me to sign up for their PowerUp Rewards club.

I am now a video gamer.*

    Sigh.

*Note: I realize most serious gamers would laugh at that, given that my system is a Wii, but hey, this is the furthest I've ever come.

That powerups reward card was totally worth it for me.

Trading gives you an additional 10%
Plus 10% off stuff you buy.
    Plus all the deals.

It seems like I'ved saved a lot of money.

Also which game did you get?

    I recommend:

    Zelda: Skyward Sword
Zelda: Twilight Princess (though if you have to pick one get skyward sword)
    Super Mario Galaxy
    New Super Mario Bros. Wii
    Super Smash Bros. Brawl

(Yes I realize they're all first party titles)

I unashamedly love my Nintendo Wii. We share a special bond that them X-Boxers and PS3ers will never understand.

My favorite games include Monster Hunter Tri, anything from the Lego series, the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, Ghost Squad, Pokemon Battle Revolution, and anything done by Cabelas.

The new Cabelas Survival: Shadows of Katmai is three pounds of awesome in two-pound bag. When your plane crashes on Katmai mountain in the Alaskan wilderness, it's up to you to get yourself and your passenger to safety amidst a frozen landscape filled with environmental hazards and hungry predators. You have to hunt big game for food while avoiding getting eaten by wolves.

My wife spends a lot of time playing Disney's Guilty Party, where you must play mini-games to collect clues to a logic puzzle in the form of a whodunit.

My kids favorite games are Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Skylanders.

I also love a good golf game, and have played the Wii Sports course to shreds. I liked Wii Resort well enough, but have really been enjoying Super Swing Golf 2. Good play, with low complexity.

    Be proud of your Nintendo!

    Okay, quick update.

Today, the Princess Bride and I visited our local GameStop. I had, in my possession, a 'buy one preowned game, get another free' coupon, a 20% off coupon (for my birthday - both coupons were from GameStop), and a $25.00 GameStop gift card from my employees (again, a birthday gift). I picked up

    Backyard Football '10
    Winter Games '08
    Ghostbusters
    -AND-
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

All preowned, and the I only dropped six bucks out of my own pockets. This might be getting out of hand....
