What's A Verse You Aim To Live By? Empty What's A Verse You Aim To Live By?

    Post  Paeter August 17th 2015, 10:09 am

A few weeks ago I taped two signs up in my office that both say the same thing. One is right above my monitor so I see it and reflect on it pretty often, which has been good for me.

    The printed sign reads:

Things "Go Different" more often than they "Go Wrong".
(Proverbs 19:21) Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of Yahweh that will stand.
(Romans 8:28) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

When my worked day doesn't go like I'd hoped it can be very frustrating and feel unfruitful. So I attempt to remind myself that my agenda, although it may be a good one, is often not God's agenda, which is by far the best. I might think I'm here to do A,B&C, but GOD has prepared the work he wants me to do (Ephesians 2:10), so I really ought to remain open to the moment-by-moment opportunities he unexpectedly presents to serve him and others. It makes a big difference in my day to try and be on the same page with God instead of trying to get him and my circumstances on the same page with me.

Anyone else have a verse they have previously or are currently aiming to live by?

I have Jeremiah 20:9 posted at my desk:

If I say, "I won't mention Him or speak any longer in His name," His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones. I become tired of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.

Cool! I chose to memorize 25-27 a few months ago! I started recognizing the link between physical and spiritual discipline and those verses (when they come to mind) have been helpful in my exercise and dietary changes.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
The importance of making an active choice this day, and every day, is something I try to keep at the front of my mind.

    Galatians 3:28 is my choice.
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
