Alita: Battle Angel Trailer

Spotted this over the weekend but didn't have time to watch it until my lunch break today.



I'm sure they'll bring in plot points from the manga and OVA but I'd imagine it's mostly an original plot. Additionally, I'm sure the topic of "white-washing" will come up again as the release of this movie approaches.

The choice to make Alita appear like and anime character is interesting considering the other cyborgs in the trailer don't share the same facial features.

Is that what it is. Her eyes seemed un-naturally large for the rest of her face.

Yeah, what they did with her eyes is interesting. Since she's a cyborg or something, it works.

I remember reading the first volume of the manga way back when, but I never saw the anime. I remember the comic being violent.

Well crap, I'm TOTALLY down for this kind of movie! Crazy imaginative, visually spectacular, yet seriously toned sci-fi? That's almost an insta-buy for me!

Have doubts about the choice with the eyes, though. An actor's eyes are SO much of their performance. Just looking at the trailer, her eyes almost make her look ENTIRELY like a CG character to me because of how they behave. That could cause me to seriously disconnect from her character, which would be a shame, since it looks like it will have a pretty significant character focus.

But we'll see!
