What does it mean to be seperate from the world?

That's a great question. I interpret being "Separate from the world" as an issue of heart and purpose. When I do something, I need to make I know why I'm doing it. Am I reading this novel for entertainment value, it's artistic value, or for it's philosophical value? Am I helping my parents because I want something, or because I truly desire to serve them out of love?

Also, Being separate means living like Christ, in a way that may seem strange to the world. This means doing things like not overreacting to my siblings. It means doing something not just for what I get, but for what others get out of it. But above all, it means that my goal above all is to Proclaim the Truth of the Gospel, Love others, and Glorify God.

Before I take a crack at this, some clarification would be helpful to me. Are you asking this based on a specific verse or passage of scripture you're trying to better understand, or is this a phrase you've come upon in your own meditation or elsewhere that you think is worth exploring?

The first would lead me to look at the verse/passage, the second would lead me to a more subjective response.

I'd recommend going to somewhere like blueletterbible.org and using their search engine to input that phrase. You may need to try a few different translations to find one in which the phrase you're thinking of is specifically translated that way.

Then, once they spit out the specific verse or verses you're thinking of, you can bring it back here and we can take a look at it.
