Fasting....

Ever heard of fasting?

Sometimes if someone is sick in our church (and I mean REALLY sick, like a life and death situation) our whole church will fast for a day (sometimes people will go for 3 days)

Fasting is essentially not eating and only drinking water.

Has anyone else tried it?

I have tried it before, and I'm sad to say was not successful in it. It's amazing how hungry you get when you're intentionally trying not to eat! I should try it again.

Some people fast from things besides just food, but as far as I know every time it is mentioned in the Bible, it is a fast from food.

From what I understand the intent is to exert control over your flesh and to spend that time that you would normally be eating in the Word and in prayer.
