Although it was a pretty soft, under-the-radar launch, Christian Geek Central arguably launched on March 27th of 2013, when I announced that the "Spirit Blade Underground" forums were being re-branded as the "Christian Geek Central" forums. Both before and after that time there were various things going on with the Christian Geek Central branding, but that date is the most definitive one I can find related to the beginning of CGC.
So as we now approach the 10-year anniversary, I feel like it should be acknowledged in some way. After all, I produce far more on a regular basis under the CGC brand than I do the SBP brand, and CGC is undeniably what my ministry is most strongly associated with these days.
I'm not looking for pats on the back or to be self-congratulatory. The two reasons I see to recognize it are:
1. The discipline of thankfulness. Its easy for me to have a "what have you done for me lately" attitude with God, and I've found its both biblical and healthy for me to "count your many blessings, see what God has done"(ooh, that song really dates me, doesn't it?). So taking a moment to reflect and be thankful seems appropriate.
2. A public expression of commitment and an invitation to explore. For those relatively new to my content, they may not be aware how much CGC content there really is to explore. By briefly pointing to CGC history, I think it might encourage people to do that, and also instill confidence that, if God is willing, I'm in this for the long haul.
So I don't know what "celebrating" 10 yrs might look like. Just a simple video/podcast segment reflecting back? A modified logo that includes a reference to 10 years? I'm open to any thoughts you guys might have. Nothing is jumping out to me strongly right now.
