Anyone know where I can get some free video editing software online? My software is old and buggy and may now even be unusable... and I'm trying to get the video special feature for the website out for this month!

Re: Need Free Video Editing Software
If you just need basic editing and conversion capabilities, I recommend Freemake. It supports quite a lot of formats, includes an editor, and is very intuitive.

Can you add text to the video you edit? I like to add "text commentary" to the videos I make.

Re: Need Free Video Editing Software
Hmm, no text or subtitles with Freemake.
Have you tried Windows Movie Maker? It probably came with your OS. I haven't used it much, but I seem to recall it having the option to add text to a video.
For adding text and subtitles, I would try DVDAuthor, and GUI for DVDAuthor.
Both of those, along with a host of other resources can be found at

Here's a direct link to the utility

This utility is not for the faint of heart. It is based on Virtualdub (also free under GNU), which I've only ever used through secondary builds. If you've got the patience for the learning curve, it will reward you.

Lightworks is free. Don't know about subtitles though.

Yeah, but it does this weird thing where it cuts 4 seconds of sound out every time I make an edit. So it's not a good option. Thanks for the other links, though!
