    Halloween Plans? Empty Halloween Plans?

    Post  Paeter October 27th 2016, 9:36 am

Anyone have Halloween plans outside of handing out candy?

We probably don't this year. Before we had kids we would invite a couple over and play the "Zombies!" boardgame, or watch a scary movie. These days we mainly walk the kids around the block, hand out candy and hope that JUST the right amount of kids come so we happen to open a fresh bag and be unable to return it to the store.

I don't do Halloween, but it is kind of tempting to cruise the local streets in the EctoMini after dark...

I've got a 5K run this weekend, the Chilly Hilly. The local comic book store is having a costume party and trunk or treat. Beyond that? Maybe a round of the Ghost Stories board game and some Goosebumps on TV.... Oh yeah, we party hard.

When I was a kid I'd do a scene of a scarecrow slaughtering pumpkin people with a scythe, always with the intention of putting on the scarecrow's clothes on Halloween itself and scaring people.
But I lived in the country, (thus the ability to slaughter as many pumpkins as I wanted) and no one ever came by. Crying or Very sad
When my kids were young, I'd take them out to the nice neighborhood and get a good haul...then take a "dad tax" from their bags.

Now, I just ignore it for the most part. But some day ,some day I'll make a costume using stilts and crutches and put the fear of God into my neighborhood...before I'm shot by an over-enthusiastic cop.

Oh my gosh you HAVE TO give into that temptation. That would be SO COOL for your neighbors!! Or you could do "trunk or treat" with it from your driveway!

Do Brits know what "trunk or treat is"? That's when you sit out by your parked car and have the candy bowl in the open trunk, from which you hand it out to kids who come by. I usually see it done at car shows around Halloween.

LOL! Please get pictures before you die!

As for the "dad tax", Holly and I both collect heavy taxes, only because the boys are so SLOW to eat their candy! (I guess that's good.) The seem to enjoy getting the candy far more than eating it, because that bucket doesn't empty out until near the summertime! And that's WITH our applied, ongoing taxation!

We usually buy ice pops and put them in a cooler on the front steps while we're out getting CANDY!

So, the ice pops are for trick or treaters to take? And by ice pops are we talking frozen dessert on a stick? (just want to clarify. I've NEVER heard of anything like this!)

That's because you live in the desert.

    Ding. Ding. Ding!

Yep! We buy a bunch of 'em, freeze 'em and put them out. When we've handed them out the kids who come to the door freak out. Since we're in NY, they stay frozen for a long time!

LOL! Now THAT'S the laugh I was waiting for from the forums before I could properly start my work day. Thanks for that.

Sweet! Man what could WE put out next year that would fit the climate better? Maybe eggs they could fry on their sidewalks? (Actually October is too late for that particular Arizona oddity.)
