    Wanted to give an update

I'm currently at 209 and at 20% Bodyfat (one more present and i'll no longer be considered overweight)

So that's 31 lbs lost since January and down over 10% bodyfat

9 lbs from next goal and 29 lbs away from my ultimate goal

    Update time
Last week i was at 207 but today i weighed in at 210. My bodyfat id now in the 19% range so i can't really be too upset over the weight gain. also need to remind myself that my weight always goes up just before a drastic drop (it's called the Whoosh)

That's really interesting! I haven't been tracking my weight, so that makes me curious what's been going on with me!

So having been through Christmas and a cruise (with free all you can eat food and 24/7 icecream) I decided to measure myself again.
I'm back up to 133 cm, so essentially back at my starting point.

Oh man, I hear you! Don't be discouraged! I've run into a set-back after the time off, too! But we can still make forward strides in the long game!

Weighed myself today and I'm at 201.7 lbs

I'm 1 lbs away from my next goal and 21 lbs away from my main goal. I might be playing Uncharted 4 (my reward for reaching 200 lbs) next week (and of course i would reach it the same week the KH3 DLC comes out)

I'm hoping to reach my 180 goal by June but i might actually be there by my birthday in April.

I started a one year weight lifting program so hopefully I can stick with it this entire year.

Do you guys use myfittnesspal? it's an app where you can record what you eat and it'll keep track of your calories, It defiantly helping if you are add me Rugged_Warrior

Cool to hear about your forward progress, Rickster!

I've resolved to go a little more strict with my eating than normal for about two weeks in hopes of getting "reset" quickly to where I was before Christmas. So far so good!

Way to go Rickster! cheers  Intermittent fasting works very well and is very healthy. It’s much better than “eat less, move more”, for that only works as long as you can manage starving yourself continuously (which no one can, not for the rest of their days). After that, you’ll not only return to your old weight, but probably gain even more - and all while probably still eating less than you did before you started... very frustrating but also just how our bodies work.

I talked about this a bit on one of my Spiritblade podcast entries. The key to permanent weight loss is lowering your insuline, and intermittent fasting is one of the ways to turn that key. Lowering your carbs is the second way. Turning both keys at the same time works even better.

Just in case anyone is wondering: I have at least some standing on this topic Wink : I lost 31 kilos / 68 pounds in 8 months, by adopting a permanent zero-carb lifestyle, combined with 2-meals-a-day intermittent fasting. I’ve stayed that way ever since. I feel like I’m 25 again, I’m never hungry (nor hangry) and practically all of my health issues have vanished. And I don’t work out at all btw. I’ll reach my 2-year ‘carniversary’ coming August.

I may give this a try. I'm very close to living in this habit already, because I only eat a small breakfast on Saturdays or Sundays and usually just eat an orange after my morning workout. Beyond that I have lunch at 11:30, dinner at 5 or 6, and a snack around 8. So if I just tighten up my pattern a bit I could see my lifestyle adapting to this.

Congrats on all your progress you guys!

So I did my first weigh in in a while and despite not working out and eating a little more fast food then i had been I've still been able to stay under 200 lbs during this quarantine. So even though It's not likely i'll reach my goal of 180 lbs by next i'll take no gaining as a win

So... is this still a thing? How's everyone doing? Is it too late to play?

This was a rough tax season for me - I work in tax prep. Long office hours over an extended time frame. I put on the pounds again and lost a great deal of the endurance I had built up in training for 5K races.

My weight shot up from 210 lbs to 225 lbs and I started to hurt again. It's amazing how much difference just 10 pounds makes.

My 5K time dropped from 33 minutes to 45 minutes. Now THAT hurts.

But I'm on the wagon again. I'm logging my meals and water. I see that others use My Fitness Pal, I just use the Fitbit app, mainly because it matches my Fitbit tracker. I do use the UA Map My Run app, I believe UA makes My Fitness Pal as well.

So.... echo test. Paeter gives us updates in his podcast. How is everyone else doing?

I've been completely ignoring this stuff lately, because I'm currently dealing with heameroids, and that is kinda of distracting lol.
When I'm on top of things, I track steps on fitbit, enter my measurements on MyFitnessPal (synced to fitbit) and track food on MyFitnessPal.

Happy to be friends with people on either platform.

Basically yes. That’s my neighborhood. I was experimenting with posting photos from my phone. Your metric for health progress is waist size, right? My metric is weight and 5K time. I weighed in this morning at 220lbs. So after about 10 months of not training this is my new starting point. Here we go!

The Waist-Loss Challenge - Page 2 Empty Re: The Waist-Loss Challenge

    Post  Paeter September 16th 2020, 9:24 am

I learned some new words last night: Patulous Eustachian Tube

This is a disorder that results in frequent ear popping, such as that experienced in pressure changes, but seemingly without any consistent cause.

I've been experiencing more ear popping very gradually for awhile now, but as of middle-late last week it has increased significantly, becoming a major distraction. I have a Doctor appt for this coming Monday.

Although it can be time-wasting and anxiety-inducing to try to be your own doctor using google, I spent some time searching for answers last night. I learned that, while not greatly understood, it is a commonly known phenomenon for those undergoing rapid weight loss to experience Patulous Eustachian Tube. And reading at least one anecdote was nearly like a page out of my own diary in terms of what they were doing to lose weight, their age, weight, and resulting experiences.

The most common, go-to treatment... is weight gain, as that restores the fatty tissues around the Eustachian Tube that have been lost and are needed to support and promote ET function.

Some people reportedly have a weight threshold they can never go below without experience the issue.

As I wait for my appt on Monday, I'm still doing everything I can to get my ear functionality back to normal. Associated triggers of the phenomenon, at least for some, seem to be:

    rapid weight loss
    caffeine or other stimulants
    intense exercise
dehydration (this should not be an issue for me)
    stress

So as I consider what all of this potentially means for my "Weekly Waistline" endeavor, between now and my appointment Monday, with some sadness, I will be dropping caffeine, exercise and my diet. I'm SURE I'll have more to share on the podcast this week. But I thought this was a development worth sharing.

And as a side note, I'd be grateful for your prayers as I and Doctors sort through what is going on with my ears.

    Thanks!
