Summer Blockbusters
So, with the summer blockbuster season just around the corner what movies are you most looking forward to? I am super-excited for The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and The Amazing Spider-Man! The Bourne Legacy will hopefully be a worthy successor to the Bourne trilogy and I like the way it looks like they are going in the trailer! So what about you guys?

Re: Summer Blockbusters
To me Battleship looks like another Transformers which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I enjoyed the first one, but I'm hoping Battleship will be a better film. But hey, who am I kidding? Aliens, explosions, slow-motion awesomeness....I'm in!!

Re: Summer Blockbusters
Althought not a summer release, and not a sci fi flick, I must say I'm looking forward to catching a showing of "Act of Valor". Heard a lot of good things about this one.
As for other stuff; Avengers, GI:Joe Retaliation, Dark Knight Rises. Still not sure on the new Spiderman, but willing to give it a shot. I am quite happy skipping a showing of GR2:SoV, as I've not really heard enough good about it to drive me to see it.
Okay, I will say this. I refuse to give up my geek creds/man card after saying this, but I think I will refuse to go see SW:TPM in 3D. My main reasons are, 1)I don't really want to see a movie with those stupid heavy 3D glasses on, 2)I don't see 3D will actually add anything to a SW experience, 3)frankly, TPM wasn't that great of a film (unless you've caught some of the really well done fan edits that make the story more coherent), and 4) I want NEW stories on the big screen in the Star Wars universe.

Re: Summer Blockbusters
Same as y'all. The Avengers, and the new Batman. For some reason, I'm not that excited about the new Spider-man even though I liked all three of the first ones. Too soon for a reboot, IMHO, but ... I know I'll see it at least when it comes out on disc.

I got really excited for the new spider-man when it looked like he actually has some witty dialogue when he's fighting... kinda like how Spider-Man does

Another one I'm really looking forward to is John Carter of Mars. I'm hoping it will be good enough to spawn an epic trilogy!

LOL
Should we introduce some kind of Geek cred on the forums? It is possible I think.
Update: I just activated the point system and called it Geek Points. And gave Paeter a -1 rating

Re: Summer Blockbusters
@Whiteboy if you press the minus at the right side of his post you can actually get his geek points to - 2
Curious... are you able to do that? I can't do it twice so it changes to a red bar for me.

Re: Summer Blockbusters
Okay wise guys. But next time help a geek out. I didn't get the memo requiring those with geek memberships to memorize the acronyms of the world's worst sci-fi flicks.

So you're okay with the geek points thing? Or should we call it something else.

Re: Summer Blockbusters
Whee! Yes, I was able to vote down his geek points to a -2. I think the red bar is if you're in the negative and a green bar is if you're in the positive.
Personally I like the Geek Points idea. We might have suggestions on if we want to call it something else. I kinda like "Geek cred" better than "Geek points." But it's not that big a deal to me either way, and I bet others can come up with better names than I can anyway.

The avengers movie keeps looking better and better. Hopefully after the new spider-man movie they can throw spidey into the mix in the Avengers 2

About zero chance of that. My understanding is that Sony owns Spider-man for at least one more movie after "Amazing" before rights revert back to Marvel, and even that is iffy. You'll probably have to wait a decade or so when they do "remakes" of all the Marvel movie properties.
