300: Rise of an Empire Empty 300: Rise of an Empire

I would be interested to hear your guys' thoughts on 300 and this new trailer as well, because to me 300 was just a visual spectacle, but not much more (kind of like Avatar), which is fine, I love awesome action as much as the next guy, but I was hoping for something more. To me this trailer pretty much looks like more of the same, not braking any new ground.

Also I throw down the towel at Paeter's feet and say 300 is the most accurate comic book adaptation ever. Ok, I admit I've never seen/read Watchmen, but in 300 it is almost word for word for the entire movie! I just don't know how much more close you can get.Very Happy

It looks visually awesome, but I'm not entirely sure what the focus of the story is. (Although I can probably guess if it follows historical events). Who are the main characters? What is their goal? (Defend Greece or conquer Babylon?! From the trailer there's a bit of both).
It kinda strikes me  as a "Sucker Punch" type movie. The visuals in SP were awesome . . . but I didn't really care and found myself bored out of my mind because the story and characters were unengaging.

I hope this doesn't turn out like that . . . but the trailer makes it seem that way.

I'm certainly going to be seeing it, but maybe not in theaters.

No need for towels. I can't argue that since I haven't read 300. So I guess I'll modify and claim that Watchmen is the most faithful live-action superhero comic book adaptaion of all time.

Hmm...I wasn't really thinking of 300 as an animated movie, but I guess it kinda is. Smile

I added live-action just to further narrow the category "just in case", but the qualifier I added in light of 300 was "superhero". I think of 300 as live action, too. But not as a superhero flick.
