Does anyone know how I can keep certin people from seeing my Facebook status?

When you go to push the "Share" Button, there should be a small button with a padlock symbol. Press that and you can choose who can and can't view your status, but I think it's only a case by case basis...I'm sure if there is something in settings that makes it all the time.
It occurs to me that this option is for determining who ON YOUR FRIENDS LIST can see it.
If it is just a matter of friends vs friends of friends you can change that in your security settings by going to the top right corner and selection your account and then privacy settings.
