Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate I could already see, but even more after watching him talk during Fandome. Too little to blah blah blah...

Oh, I didn't realize that some of the Justice Society were going to be in this. That's cool. All these actors and personnel telling me about the movie just don't sound genuine to me, especially the Rock, but at least someone gave a little more insight into Black Adam's personality. I'm probably more interested in this than any of the others except The Batman.

Have you read the Black Adam stuff from around the early-mid 2000's when he was a JSA member and then there was that weekly "52" series? I think they are pulling his character from that era a lot.

I was reading JSA for a little bit after Infinite Crisis (before, during, and just after the storyline that involved the Kingdom Come Superman and Gog). I remember Black Adam being in a story or two. I remember him having a wife named Isis back in his knock-off Middle Eastern country (Khandaq), and he was conflicted as to how to rule the country. It was up in the air as to whether he would help the JSA or fight them. I don't remember why they were crossing paths, though. Is that the time you're thinking about?

Yeah, I think so. At some point I think they blamed his former villainy on a brain tumor in his human form that was making him be evil/crazy, but then he was cured or something. Then for awhile they established him as an anti-hero. At some point, his life goes south in a major way (Isis dies, maybe?) and he get villainous again. But I don't know if that's where they left him or not.
So I think they are going for some complexity with his motives/morality, which I'd be interested in seeing.
No mention of seeing Captain M... (ugh), "Shazam" in the Black Adam movie, though. I'm thinking he almost has to be, but no mention I've seen yet.

Re: Black Adam First Look
I got the impression from last year's Fandome that Black Adam was going to be set in ancient Egypt, which I was kinda down for. Now it's looking like it's gonna be set in present day, with perhaps a brief prologue in ancient Egypt.
Kinda disappointed by that.

What's the significance of the number 52 in DC comics?
I've always wondered why an era of the comics is referred to as "The New 52" but have never gotten around to asking.

It's not meta, or story-related, or historical or anything. It was the central theme of DC marketing, based on the fact there are 52 weeks in a year and DC releases one or more titles every week.
The "New 52" revolves around the idea that after the Flashpoint Event the multiverse condensed into 52 universes, each with a Monitor. From a marketing standpoint, DC cancelled all of their existing titles and relaunched with 52 new titles.

Cool. Thanks, Winston. That's really interesting. 52 sounds like a lot of titles.

They didn't all last.
