"Remake" of The Thing Empty "Remake" of The Thing

Just stumbled onto this and, of course, immediately thought of Paeter.

Technically, it's not a remake of John Carpenter's The Thing. It's a new adaptation of the original book upon which The Thing was based.

That's interesting. So there was a full-length novel version of Who Goes There? that was never released before somebody found it recently. Now he's running a Kickstarter to try to get it published.

Dude, yes!! Thank you for the news and the link!

Prequel, sequel, remake, whatever!! Just give me more of this monster!

I would like to point out that my best movies of the decade video went up last week, in which I put a call out for another movie to be made in this franchise. I'm not saying I had anything to do with this project being greenlit. I'm just saying everyone should thank me for making it happen with my mind powers.

Very cool! I love John Carpenter's The Thing and the book/short story it's based on as well! I had no idea it was supposed to be a part of a larger story. Basing the reboot on the full book is a good way to do more movies with this cool monster without stepping on the toes of people that don't want them to "ruin" a classic! I'm excited for this!
