Scariest Video Game Empty Scariest Video Game

    Post  Paeter October 11th 2013, 11:52 am

Halloween is coming and gamers everywhere are a little more in the mood to get freaked out. What is the scariest video game you've ever played? Not your favorite scary video game, but the one that actually scared you more than any other game. (And no, "so bad it's scary" selections do not count.)

It's been a long time since I've played it, because I decided a while back that I didn't want to spend hours each night for weeks being constantly on edge, but the first two Resident Evil games would probably be near the top for me.

Same here. The best ones ever for me. I remember playing RE2 until late in the evening/early morning, all the lights off in the house, and getting super creeped out by the zombie moans in the background.

The fact that I paid $40 for Phinease and Ferd: The Quest for Cool Stuff scares me. Does that count?

Sorry. That falls a little too close to the "so bad it's scary" condition. Though I do mourn your loss.

I've been playing through Dead Island (the first one) as of late, and that game has some creepy moments. Not just because the game is full of zombies, but the game actually managed to fit in some genuinely jump-in-your-seat moments that make playing the game late at night when nobody is awake with all the lights off a necessity.

Also, I found Condemned (the first one) pretty scary.

I remember playing the first Silent Hill on the PS1. That constant switching between worlds, the imagery, and the implications of the story were freaking terrifying.

I'm not a big fan of horror, so I haven't played much in that genre, so I guess I would have to say The Last of Us. While it is not super terrifying, it can be scary walking through a building and suddenly you hear the infected make their creepy clicking noise. Are the new Resident Evil games worth checking out? I've heard mixed reviews, but horror is a genre I'm beginning to grow an interest in.

Oooh, yeah. This game just looks waaaay to scary for me to enjoy. I like scary movies for a couple hours, but that world does NOT look like a place I'd like to live in for an hour or two every night!

ok this might sound dumb but I was only like 6 or or 7 at the time but I remember playing Who Framed Roger Rabbit for the gameboy and early on the game there was a guy who gets murdered in front of you. That scared me so much I actually traded in the game for mega man.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a great game, both to play and for the horror, and I don't like horror!
