Seriously, turn it off. When I go to pages like this one it sounds like a legion of demons trying to invade my brain!

Can you tell me what browser you're using?

    Here's the code I use:

    "<embed autoplay="false" autostart="0" controller="true" height="60" loop="false" src="http://www.spiritblade.net/podcastepisodes/SBU-320-Son_Of_Batman_Review.mp3" width="150"></embed>"

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I should change? It's not my intention that anything autoplay.

The only thing that auto plays for me is Spiritblade.net.  I think it is this code for your flash player.

    <param name="movie" value="trailer_hm.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="scale" value="noscale" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="bgcolor" value="##ffffff" /><embed src="trailer_hm.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" wmode="transparent" bgcolor="##ffffff" width="345" height="75" name="trailer_hm" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />

If your trying to "sneak" onto the page for a bit at the office and forget your speakers are turned way up, then...........

Think you can set it to not autoplay when I'm at the office and everyone around me can hear and realize I'm not as busy as I looked?  Wink

Oh and I'm using IE almost exclusively.

Regarding the autoplay trailers at spiritblade.net, that will be addressed in the new version of the website, which will not use autoplay trailers. In the meantime I'm afraid I can't do anything to turn those off.

Regarding the embedded audio players I use elsewhere (CGC, SBU Blog, etc.), I think I will need to call upon the powers of good-hearted geeks who know more than I do. I did some searching on the issue and it turns out that both Safari and Chrome have trouble treating code for embedded players properly. I'd be happy to do some copying and pasting of embedded audio player code that is more friendly to the quirks of Chrome, but I have no idea where to find any templates for code like that.

    Can anyone help?

Whew! Turned out that was gonna be a one-shot attempt for the week, as I got hit with the flu hours afterward and will barely recover in time for our travel plans tomorrow.

    SOOOOOO glad it worked out!

BTW, I tried to go through the pages on CGC and give the same treatment to other pages with more than one embedded audio player. However you'll notice that pages with only one embedded player will still autoplay. If there is enough demand I may correct these in the future, but for now I've at least corrected my template for future podcast ep posts.
