new movie about Cain and Able

Will Smith just got the green light for a movie about Cain and Able only thing is it's going to have vampires. What?

I'm not sure they should mess Biblical stories. what's next a movie about Abe Lincoln killing vampires. Oh wait

Oh no. Expectations = very low. Prediction; biblical accuracy = negligable, if even existant. Paeter's Quality Score = <5, Relevancy, even worse.

I know that in some vampire lore, Cain is attributed to being the first vampire due to God's curse. Depending on how the story is told, perhaps the vampire story arc won't be that prominent?

I would guess that we'll see an appearance from the mythical Lilith, the supposed first-woman created before Eve (who was also created from the dirt of the earth, like Adam, instead of from his rib).

On the positive side of things, though, I think a film like this will stimulate people to go back and see what the biblical text actually says.

But I agree, we live in an iconoclastic culture which delights in taking the good, noble and sacred and transforming them into something twisted.

I'm reminded of Paul's words: "To the pure, everything is pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; in fact, both their mind and conscience are defiled." -Titus 1:15 (HCSB)

From the article I read I thought it was more of a complete re-imagining rather that an actual retelling.
